Who?
Thinking of a library, we perhaps still see the image of dark, historic vaults with thousands of leather-bound volumes seemingly stretching up to the sky. On entering, your footsteps irreverently disturb the silence and, abashed by the librarian’s severe glance, you feel overwhelmed by this sanctuary of knowledge and wisdom. But walking into SCHUNCK* we find nothing of that old image; instead, we enter a brightly-lit space with low bookcases interspersed with comfortable chairs and here and there colourful, eye-catching artworks.

We aim to be a distinctive, enterprising library that sets an example, both in the context of Parkstad Limburg and nationally, as a dynamo for library innovation.
Also, we see our library’s function as being to promote the pleasure of reading: in children, where the fascination with reading begins, and in older people who may be rediscovering it.

What?
Being a library, we do much more than just find you books to loan. Our services include, but are not limited to:

1.	If you ask us, we can help you find the information you want and assess it's timeliness and reliability
2.	You can read newspapers and magazines in various languages
3.	Provide you the means to find reliable information on your own
4.	While you are walking past our shelves, you can admire our temporary art exhibitions in our library too!

Of course we do not only have books in Dutch, but also in English and various other languages!

Where?
You can find us on the first, second and third floor of the Glaspaleis and we also have branches in Heerlerheide, Hoensbroek and Heerlerbaan.
