COLLECTIONS
SCHUNCK * has a nice, compact collection MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY DUTCH PAINTING, containing currently more than 400 works. Within the framework set (the choice of Dutch painting from 1950), quality and originality go hand in hand.
In addition, in the nineties, the museum purchased a significant part of the artistic legacy of the painter and graphic artist Aad de Haas (1920 - 1972). This subset includes over 240 works (paintings, drawings, monotypes and prints).
Unfortunately, due to limited exhibition space, the richness and scope of the collections cannot always be brought to justice.
Still the museum frequently presents exhibitions inspired by our collection AND are selections of the collections displayed elsewhere (for example Heerlen's city hall).
Next to the collections of Modern and Contemporary Dutch Painting after 1950 and Aad de Haas, as from 2009 the sub collection Great Wijnands (collection G + W) is part of our collection too.
Collection building is made possible through the financial support of the City of Heerlen and the Mondriaan Foundation.
